A once-in-a-lifetime and a must for all sailors!
Cross the Atlantic Ocean within the safe framework of the ARC Transatlantic Rally
from Gran Canaria to St. Lucia.
This transatlantic sailing in the Racing Division of the ARC Transatlantic Rally for Cruisers is directed at all interested women and men from 18 to 80 who are physically fit to put up with the conditions of a 10 to 12 day crossing on a bare-bone racing yacht (see "Boat Details") - no previous sailing knowledge is required. Our oldest participant was 80 years old and the youngest 18, accompanied by his father.
We gather in Las Palmas a few days before the start in order to get used to the boat and to enjoy the festive ambience of pre-ARC with over 200 boats and 1500 participants, lots of parties and events. After a thrilling mass start, favourable winds drive us westward with the climate getting warmer each day until arriving in St. Lucia. The nature of the Racing Division, enhanced by real-time electronic tracking information on the other boats, sparks the ambition and provides for a classic ocean racing experience.
In 2016 we finished 5th in Racing and Overall against world-class boats of the latest generation and with much more prepared crews than ours - quite a success and we do have our first repeater reservations!
After arriving in Saint Lucia and after a few days of relax you can join us on our island hopping tour to the north of the Caribbean previous to embarking on the return crossing to the Canaries via the Azores.
(This return crossing is only for proficient sailors as we may meet adverse winter weather conditions.)
"vielen Dank für Euer super Engagement und das einzigartige Erlebnis ARC 2016!" (Martin B.)
"experiencia magnífica por haber navegado bajo las órdenes de Kino. Es un gran navegante y cruzar el Atlántico con él, participando en las maniobras, supone para mí un impagable master en navegación a vela." (Rafa S., Valencia)
".. Alles in allem ein tolles unvergessliches Erlebnis" (Christian T.)
